Pet (if any): In the future, he has a toad named Trevor. In the past, he hasn’t found one he likes enough yet.
Physical Appearance: One of the things that has always driven Neville crazy about the way that he looks is his hair. It’s this combination blonde-brown mixture that never seems to stay out of his eyes or lay where he wants it. He gave up a long time ago trying to tame it. While he isn’t as short as some, no one would ever describe Neville as tall. Some, when they are being rude? Well, they describe him as short, even! Neville used to be plump – fat, some would say – but he had been working with Dumbledore’s Army and had begun to lose some weight, thankfully.
Biography: Neville was always a little shy. Not so much that he didn’t walk to people, more that he didn’t really know how to react to them. He had spent his entire life up until enrolling at Hogwarts with his family. He didn’t interact with many others. His grandmother, whom he calls Gran, raised him from the time he was less than a year old. His parents, Frank and Alice Longbottom, had been tortured and driven insane by the Death Eater, Bellatrix Lestrange. Growing up without them has been one thing that made Neville who he is. For many years, he was worried that he was a Squib. However, he finally exhibited some magical talent, much to the joy of his grandmother. Gran, while someone whom Neville has always been respectful of – and to be honest – slightly afraid of, is the most important person in his life. She is the one that takes care of him and he will never forget that. Sometimes, he thinks that she gave up so much for him and he can’t imagine someone else doing that. Ever since he became a student at Hogwarts, Neville has slowly been becoming more and more friendly. He still can’t believe that he can count Harry Potter as a friend. Neville’s greatest joy at school was Herbology. He loved to see things grow – see the way that they evolved from something so little – a seedling, a cut – into something that could help or harm someone.
Since his parents had spent as long as he could remember living at St. Mungos, he spent his holidays with them. It was that constant reminder that helped to make it painfully obvious which side he would support. He could never imagine supporting someone who had ordered the – to be honest – destruction of his life. His parents didn’t know any of the things about him that they should know. They didn’t even remember him from visit to visit. That helped give him the incentive to join Dumbledore’s Army in his fifth year. He knew that he had to help defeat the people that had done this to him.
Likes: There are a lot of things hat Neville likes. Of course, Herbology would top that list. He thinks that his toad, Trevor is the coolest ever. He hates that he left him behind. Trevor was locked in a cage in his dorm – he wouldn’t risk losing him again! – so when the spell was cast, he didn’t have him there. His Gran is super special to him.
Dislikes: Ummm…this is easy. He hates Voldemort. And to be even more exact he cannot stand Bellatrix Lestrange. If Neville was violent, he would kill her at the first chance he got. This is not to say that he doesn't hate the other people involved in the torture of his parents. He has a large amount of hatred for them. However, he feels like Bellatrix was the ringleader and thus hates her more then the rest. If he had to pick anyone person at school that he would rather not have to deal with? That would be Professor Snape. Going back to his first year, that man has always scared him. The idea of having to see him at school (be a student with him?!) weirds him out more than he can explain.
Classes (3rd years and above): Astronomy, Charms, DADA, Herbology, Potions, Transfiguration
Extracurricular Activities: Neville is really only interested in the Herbology Club. He wishes that the DA was around, but he understands why it’s not.
Romantic history: Romantic history? Neville Longbottom?! That’s funny. Well, he has never really had a girlfriend – or whatever the correct term for that is – but that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t had crushes now and then. He once had a crush on Parvati Patil (well, she was so pretty!) but quickly realized that would never work out. While most people thought that Luna Lovegood was crazy, Neville recognized something in her that was in him as well. For that alone, he had a small crush on the interesting Ravenclaw. At one point he thought that he liked Ginny Weasley, but he realized he was wrong and he just thought of her as a friend. Good thing too, because he didn’t want to have to fight Ron or Harry or anyone else for her.
What was your character’s status before Dumbledore’s spell? Neville had been involved in the battle on the grounds of the school. Right before the spell was cast, he had been laying on the ground, moaning in pain while Pansy and Draco attacked him with every spell and curse they could think of that would cause him pain.
Future Students: What does your character want to accomplish while in the past?
Neville has several different purposes. The first? He wants to get to know his parents. After all, that has been one thing he never got to do growing up – his parents don’t even know him. So for the chance to see them and talk to them? Well, Neville won’t give that up. Also, he wants to warn them. He knows it’s selfish, but he hated growing up without his parents. He wants to tell them about what happens – screw the time-space continuum. This is his life! Of course, he probably won’t really do that because well, he’d wonder about all sorts of things. He just wants to feed the resistance to Voldemort in any way that he can.
